What is a Service Agreement in the NDIS?
A service agreement is a formal contract between you and your NDIS provider. By agreeing to use your NDIS funding to pay for services, you're entering into this contract. It outlines the supports you will receive, how they will be delivered, and the terms of your agreement.

While the NDIA (National Disability Insurance Agency) recommends having a written service agreement for clarity, it's not always a requirement for every support. However, a written agreement is mandatory for Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) services.
A service agreement is a mutual arrangement between you and your provider, which can be tailored to your needs. You can seek help from a family member, friend, or advocate to ensure you understand the terms. Many providers offer standard service agreements, or you can create your own.

Your provider should assist you in understanding the service agreement, using clear language and communication methods that suit your needs. This helps ensure that both parties are clear on the supports being provided and how they will be delivered.
The NDIA may also review these agreements during compliance checks to ensure that services align with what was agreed.
