Self-Managed vs. Plan-Managed NDIS
Choosing the Right NDIS Management Option for You. When you receive your NDIS funding, you’ll need to choose how it’s managed. Your decision affects how you pay for services, who you can hire, and how flexible your supports can be.

What Is Self-Managed NDIS?
With self-management, you control your NDIS budget. You can:
-
Choose any provider (even non-registered ones)
-
Pay invoices directly
-
Manage your own admin and paperwork
It offers the most flexibility, but also comes with more responsibility.

What Is Plan-Managed NDIS?
With plan management, a professional Plan Manager handles the finances on your behalf. You still choose your providers, including non-registered ones, but someone else:
-
Pays invoices
-
Tracks your budget
-
Sends you monthly reports
This is a great middle ground between control and convenience.

Which Is Right for You?
-
Choose self-managed if you want full control and can handle admin.
-
Choose plan-managed if you want choice without the stress of paperwork.
At Key Pathways Care, we support both self-managed and plan-managed participants across Melbourne.
